History In The Making! How We Made It To The First Page Of Google!

Today is a great day for VivaNet2.0! After several months of adding content and our secret SEO strategy, we have finally reached the first page of Google! This is big stuff for us because we rely on the internet to generate clients for Lexy, our affordable website package. You may want to know how we achieved this, and in the article, I will share a few SEO tips. This is not our entire strategy, but you will learn a little about SEO today, and hopefully you can help your blog or website reach the top of Google one day.

How Did We Make It To The First Page Of Google?

Please note that we are on the first page of Google on: 4/22/12 for keyphrase: affordable website. This is a competitive search term, therefore, we may be back and forth as we compete for this term on an ongoing basis. Thanks for understanding!

Blog Content Was Our Work Horse (Seasoned With Proper Keywords/Keyphrases)

As you know, I am a stickler on blog content. I have written several articles about blogging that stress the fact that a blog must have quality content, and you can read them here:

Through all of this we strive to maintain a level of content that has quality. We want to be a source of information for both the newbie and the expert php programmer. Thus, we have several individuals within our organization that write articles in their area of expertise. In our content, we always have one or two keywords/keyphrases that we want to emphasize by:

  • Including it in the title
  • Including it in an h1 or h2 tag
  • Including in a strong tag
  • Having it mentioned several times in the actual content

We make big of a keyphrase and how it is used in our content. You may even know that we are doing this, and that is part of good article writing. In fact, we may choose to use a keyphrase that is the entire article title, such as a question a person maybe searching for in Google or a statement such as "how to..."

Internal Linking

Yo have already seen it in this article, and you will continue to see it. I am not sure how well this works with Google and it's SEO performance, but it helps our visitors once they land on our website. We always find a way to use a phrase in our articles to link back to a previous blog post. This does two things:

  1. It keeps visitors on our website to learn
  2. It creates anchor text with keywords

When a person comes to our website, we DO NOT want them to "bounce"...leave after only viewing the first page they landed on. We want to to click around, read our articles, bookmark us, and come back because they trust us. To gain that trust, they need to read other articles. This is why we link back to previous articles in our posts. Also, we have a sidebar section that has related articles based on the keywords we insert in out meta data. This gives people an opportunity to learn more about our business and what we do.

Social Spread

After we write an article, the first thing we do is use the social button on the top (you can use it too after you read this article, it will help our business!). We share our articles with Facebook, on our fan page, in Google plus, on StumbleUpon, Digg, and LinkedIn. Overall, this brings traffic in general, but when an article goes viral, people love to share. We have a couple articles that got picked up in search engines pretty fast for longtail keyphrases. Those who found the article shared them, and brought more traffic, which gives our website great exposure.
