Every blogger wants his blog post to be something people like, love, and share with others. We want to be on the top of Google when it comes to page rank. We want 100's of "likes" "pluses" & "tweets". When it's all said and done, what matter most is how you write your blog post, and how many people like your blog post as well.
This is thought every blogger must come across. After All, that is why people write a blog, to get traffic, to make their voice be heard, or to make money with their blog. Well, one thing is that we have a very competitive market. How do I know that blogs are competitive? Well, because there was over 156 million public blogs in February of 2011 (stats from WikiPedia.org). That was a year ago. With the advent of blog hosting and self hosted blogs, people are going crazy with blogs. Not only that, CMS's that once were just used for a blog are now being used for a website that has a built in blog, so it gives a more professional look. Then you have the ease of finding blog templates as well as their affordability. Honestly, a person can have a blog in a matter of hours and under $100!
PS, If you missed it, we have these articles that will help you write a blog:
With all this craze about blogging and how easy it is to get started, you have a huge task ahead of you if you want to make a popular blog that people like and follow.
So, How Do I Write A Blog Post?
I must admit that this is a weak area of mine. I still try to include facts and links that help prove my point in my blog posts, and you should too. See, a blog post will be more attractive if it is a reliable and credible source of information. People don't like to be lied to. In fact, when it comes to searching the web, they are looking for some truth, fact, source of information that is real. Therefore, having stats in a blog post are a tremendous help your post, your blog as a whole, and you as the author of the blog.
Yet, when I say "Start" with facts & stats, what I am referring to is using some source of information in the introduction that will "reel them in". Start with an interesting thought that is backed up by a credible website. Maybe have a definition as you begin your process of presenting a thought and supporting it with that definition. If you have stats, make sure they are real, trustworthy, and viewable to the public eye.
Having facts and stats makes you a trustworthy blogger. It brings a sense of confidence to your readers. It can be a source of introduction. Telling the truth always wins, so start your blog with truth and you will become a trusted author/blogger.
So you have some good facts to start your blog post? Well, if you have a dull image, people will not be that attracted to your blog post. In fact, image has become everything to our society. We live in a visual world. It is said "never judge a book by it's cover", and while that statement still holds a lot of weight to it, people are people, and we still look for the attractive. Therefore, your blog should have attractive images in the thumbnail that promote your blog post. Thing about image is having high quality images, so check out an article we wrote about finding high quality stock photos here. Also, you make want to read these articles we have wrote in regard to Photoshop and graphic design:
So have some facts that draw attention? You have a good looking thumbnail/intro image for your blog post. What else will help me write a blog post that people like? Get a little personal. That's right. Share information and stories about yourself as an illustration or source of encouragement for your readers. You see, people like to feel like others can relate to them. It's amazing, when people use Google, they share things in that little search bar that they don't want anyone else to know. How do I know? I have had the opportunity to visit the Google campus several times while I attended Bible College in Santa Clara, CA. While there, I noticed a screen in ever building above the check in station. It was a live stream of things people were searching for at that very moment. To be honest, it was a little weird, but you would see search phrase that indicated people were searching for personal things.
With that thought, when you use your blog to share personal stories, people can relate to you. With that bridge of communication, people feel a little more at ease with you, and will eventually come to enjoy your blog posts, all because they can relate to you. So share a humiliating, yet funny story about your self every once and a while. Tell how you felt about something in your life. Don't publish everything, but get a little comfortable in your blog posts. People will enjoy it, and so will you.
Now that you have some facts, an great image, and a few personal stories, it's time to really get their attention. How? With a title for your blog post that gets their attention. Again, I must admit, like the stats, this is an area I struggle in. I am not always the most creative person, so I have to really things about my titles. Why is the title important? Well, in Google, Facebook, Twitter, Digg, and so; it is the first thing people read about your blog. Rather then try to give you tips on this (because it is my weak point), here is a link about blogs and titles: How To Come Up With Killer Blog Post Ideas
So you have all the previous items in place, what's last? Well, just the simple truth, give content worth sharing. This is my hobby horse, because it is the meat of every blog post. Your content is vital. As meat gives protein and strength to the human body (sorry vegans...I LOVE meat!), quality content is the strength of your website and blog. If people leave you blog without being helped or finding answers, then they left it for the last time, and will not return. For instance, this blog, VivaNet2.0, is a blog in wide range of genres, so we must try to cover all the bases to give quality content. We have blog posts about design, code, marketing, blogging, and so. With this great task or filling all these genres, we have two goals in mind: (1) Become an authority in online business strategies & (2) Drive traffic that will turn to potential LEXY Site customers.
To achieve this task, we must be a credible source of information. How do we achieve this? By giving quality content worth sharing. SOOOO, I encourage you to share this post as well in your social media realm. We want to help people, and we hope blog posts like this help you. If it did, then share it!
