<< Back to Web TipsWeb Design Layouts are important when considering the type of website you want for yourself or company. The Layout of a website can say a whole lot about the subject of the website whether that’s a business, event, person, or information. When choosing a web design layout you need to make sure that the layout provides for ease of access to all the information pertaining to the subject of your website. Many people will spend thousands on a website only to find out that the website visitors get confused and never actually get to the information that you’re advertising. Here are a few questions to consider when choosing web design is laid out.
Your most important information needs to be on your front page. (Preferably top left if you can) People read information from top left to bottom right. On average at least 50% of visitors will be 5 second visitors. This means that half of the people that go to your website will only be there for 5 seconds. This 50% is also only for websites that have what the visitor wants. If you’re targeting mass amounts of traffic without very much relevancy you can count on there being no conversion. So say what you’re going to say in the top left section of the screen. If you’re building a brand than your logo goes on the top left like this document has our logo.
If your visitors come from paid advertising you want to make sure that you only have several options for them to choose from, after that you can give them more options. You want to make sure that the categories of your information are extremely apparent and that they choose them. If your visitors come from another information source it might be a good idea to give them a larger variety of information to choose from. Still keep in mind that they need to be well organized, so if you have 20 links or so categories them under 4 or 5 main sections.
When your current visitors come to your website, where are they going? Do they visit the information you want them to visit? If not, you need to find a way to use that to your advantage. Lets say that you’re a plumbing company and you’re main goal is to sell your piping. Well what if most of your visitors access your page titled “Service Tips”? Put a form on that page that says ask an expert, and when they ask a question, make sure that you mention your products. (It’s all about creating value, so keep your customers happy with the information they want, all while giving them the information you want them to have.) |
